In this week's Why Edify Review, I want to explore some critical trends and discussions shaping education in 2025. From technology boundaries to human-centered teaching approaches, we face challenges and opportunities that will define our educational landscape.

Education Week recently named "cellphone ban" as their word of 2024, reflecting a growing nationwide movement to address student mental health and academic performance through technology restrictions. This ties into broader conversations about balancing digital tools with authentic human connection in our classrooms.

Looking ahead, we're seeing significant shifts in education policy and practice. School voucher debates are evolving, particularly in rural areas, while potential Supreme Court decisions on religious charter schools could reshape our educational system. Meanwhile, many districts are grappling with declining enrollment challenges that may lead to structural changes in how we deliver education.

But perhaps most importantly, there's a growing recognition that we need to move away from the "superhero teacher" myth toward a more sustainable, human-centered approach to education. This means establishing healthy boundaries, prioritizing face-to-face connections, and practicing active listening in our interactions with students and colleagues.
