Elevate: Highlights From the EL Education National Conference

I just got back from school on a Sunday night, feeling the need to prepare for the upcoming week. As a teacher, there is always a bit of anxiety returning to school after a few days off, wondering what type of report might await me. But I'm happy to say that it was all good news this time!

I'm writing this post as a sort of journal, filled with video clips and takeaways from a conference I attended. I plan on sharing what I learned with my students so they can benefit from the wonderful ideas I picked up.

Although I've been to this conference many times before, this was my first as an ELfluencer. My role was to document my experience and share it with my social network connections.

During the conference, I took notes in each of my sessions and then at the end, I published my takeaways. You can find those below.

Takeaways from the EL Education National Conference - Celebrations of Learning, Connections, and Passages
These are my notes and takeaways from this year’s EL Education National Conference.

Throughout the conference, I compiled several video clips. One of the unexpected benefits was the opportunity to learn from other ELfluencers. They were uniquely talented, far better than me, and they all utilized their talents positively.

Here are some of the highlights from the first day.

Here is a clip from a session that emphasized the importance of connections in a school building. These should be established before anything else.

The clip below comes from a session that focused on the power of mindfulness in the classroom

Our 8th-grade portfolio passage presentations are one of the highlights of every year. There were some great examples and ideas shared during the session below. I am excited to try some of them out.

This is the final video clip which is kind of like a highlight reel.

Finally, while I was away my Crew made some serious progress on our door decorations.

Here are some photos from the trip.
