It Doesn't Get You Anywhere
Here’s a quote, resource, and reflection to help you breathe, reset, and stay grounded this week.
Quote
“Worrying is like rocking in a chair. It gives you something to do, but it doesn’t get you anywhere.” — Anonymous

Teachers care deeply — and that often means our minds never stop moving. Lesson plans, student progress, parent emails — it’s easy to confuse thinking about a problem with doing something about it.
This week, try a short practice called The Worry Pause.
When you catch yourself looping on something you can’t control, pause for 60 seconds and ask three questions:
- Is this within my control?
- Can I take one small action right now?
- If not, can I release it — even temporarily?
If it’s out of your control, visualize setting that thought down.
Literally picture it resting somewhere — while you move forward.
And if you need a quick grounding reset, use the 5-4-3-2-1 technique:
- 5 things you can see
- 4 you can touch
- 3 you can hear
- 2 you can smell
- 1 you can taste
It takes less than a minute to bring your body back to the present — and stop the rocking chair.
Now Repeat…
I release what I cannot control. I choose calm over chaos and action over worry. My presence is my power.

Journal Prompt
What’s one thing that’s been worrying you this week? Can you name one small action to take — or one way to let it go?
