Resource
When the week feels heavy or overwhelming, try the 1% Better Strategy: choose one small area of your teaching or personal routine to improve by just 1%. Over time, these small shifts build big change.
Here are a few examples:
- Tighten up your lesson closure with a 1-minute reflection question.
- Replace one hallway complaint with a compliment to a colleague.
- Set a 5-minute timer after school to tidy your desk or breathe before heading home.
- Choose one piece of feedback to give more clearly or kindly.
- Drink one extra glass of water during your planning period.
- Send a quick positive note to one student or parent each day.
- Start class with 30 seconds of mindful breathing.
- Organize one small area of your digital files each week.
- Walk the long way to the staff room once a day for extra steps.
Each of these takes under a minute, but repeated daily, they spark meaningful momentum.
Affirmation
I honor my capacity today. I grow by showing up, not by being perfect. Small steps are enough—and I am enough.
