Embracing Door Decoration Moments

Life is filled with door-decorating moments. Times when you feel like you don't have enough in the tank to start something new. Most of these times it's best to just hold on and jump right in.

Embracing Door Decoration Moments

Each year, just before winter break hits the entire school participates in a door decorating contest. The students in each class create plans and then decorate their classroom doors with a holiday theme.

If you are a teacher you know that it's this time of the year when energy is high, student behaviors are challenging, and you're sledding into the break on fumes.

Sometimes it feels like there is nothing left in the tank to take on a group project of this magnitude.

Without fail it's chaotic. There are arguments. Feelings get hurt.

Thing is, the door always gets decorated, and students really like doing it. It brings them closer together. It's an experience the entire school shares.

Once it's over, I've always felt like it was worth it.

Most of the smiles and good stories are on the other side.
