Hello, Friends!
Welcome to Why Edify. My name is Jeremy Jorgensen and I am an 8th-grade science and social studies teacher. I've been teaching for 23 years. You can find more in my bio here.
I chose the name Why Edify for this blog because of its connection to teaching, learning, and improving the mind and character.
You will find a variety of topics here, but each post has to meet one simple rule: I have to somehow be a better person after writing it, and it should also be helpful to at least one other person (hopefully more than that).
As I get older, I've developed the opinion that whenever someone invests in their education and personal development, it becomes an act of community service.
Here are some of the things you can expect to find. It's an eclectic mix feel free to skip around.

- The T.G.I.F. Newsletter - This is a newsletter I send out on Friday for teachers and lifelong learners. You'll find education news, personal growth resources, a dose of inspiration, and some of my personal favorite things.
- Journal - This is where I'm working to build a writing habit. I'm a believer in writing to learn. The topics in this category are all over the place as long as each post fits the basic rule - I have to somehow be a better person after writing it, and it should also be helpful to at least one other person (hopefully more than that).
