November 8th is National STEM/STEAM Day. To celebrate this day all you need to do is encourage kids to get curious about math and science activities.

As a science teacher, I regularly observe how STEM/STEAM activities help students develop skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, scientific inquiry, research, and public speaking.

STEM/STEAM activities help create future problem solvers. As a society, we're going to need them.

Here are some activities and resources to get kids curious about science, technology, engineering, art, and math.

Here are some STEM/STEAM activities I've used with kids over the years.

End The Year With Engaging STEM Challenges - Free Mousetrap Cars and Paper Bridge Challenges For Teachers
Here are a few STEM/STEAM challenges I’ve used in the past that worked quite well. I’ll include a PDF version and a Word version in case you’d like to change it to suit your needs. These activities provide an opportunity for students to grapple with and strengthen their growth mindset.
Forces and Motion: Model Rocket Challenge and Newton’s Laws Investigation
Use model rockets to help your students learn about Forces and Motion. It’s a great STEM activity to add to your tool kit.
Sphero Battle Bots Stem Challenge
In this STEM activity, students create a Sphero Battle Bot. The Sphero is the engine that drives the Battle Bot. Here are the directions, and the supplies that are needed to build the Battle Bots, and run the battle.
Using Spheros in Science Class
Learn how Spheros can be used in science teaching. Here are a few introductory activities and resources to get you started.
Forces and Motion: Sphero Tractor Pull Investigation Part One
Students use Sphero programmable robots to explore Newton’s Three Laws in an engaging tractor pull setting.
Forces and Motion: Sphero Tractor Pull Investigation Part Two
An engaging activity where students use Sphero robots in a Tractor Pull investigation to learn about Newton’s Three Laws.
